ESPA launches new treatment inspired by the resilience of butterflies

ESPA has also launched two new products, the Muscle Rescue Balm and the Fitness Shower Oil, to compliment the treatment
Luxury skincare brand ESPA has expanded its treatment offering with the addition of the Strength and Resilience massage, a new signature treatment designed to target and relieve tired and aching muscles.

The treatment was inspired by the resilience of painted lady butterflies, who fly thousands of miles from Africa to the UK every spring. The massage features gentle strokes and swift movements to symbolise the butterflies’ flight, and is designed to revive tired muscles and bring a renewed sense of clarity and wellbeing to the mind and body.

Clients are ‘cocooned’ in warm towels, and given a soothing massage using ESPA’s newly launched Muscle Rescue Balm. Yogic stretches are then used to re-awaken the muscles. Client’s then receive a reflex zone foot massage, designed to stimulate the major organs, including the lungs and diaphragm, and a back massage using varying pressure to invigorate the muscles. The treatment ends with a sinus release and scalp massage to help support the immune system and boost energy levels.

Sue Harmsworth, founder and chairman of ESPA, says: “At ESPA we pioneered the integration of wellness into beauty treatments, and the new Strength and Resilience Massage is a good example of this. Incorporating elements to support overall wellbeing such as breathwork, reflex zone massage and thymus tapotement gives the treatment another dimension.”

Harmsworth adds: “Not only does it feel beautiful and is results driven, but it also has additional inner benefits, such as strengthening and quieting the mind, building resilience and supporting immunity.”

Additionally, ESPA has launched two new products, the Muscle Rescue Balm and the Fitness Shower Oil, to compliment the massage. Both products are formulated with coconut oil, to hydrate, winged kelp to lock in moisture, peppermint oil to re-invigorate tired muscles, eucalyptus oil to cool and soothe, clove bud oil to alleviate aches and pains and West Indian bay to revive the mind.
