Drainage system company Geberit has provided a solution for the new Centre Court roof at Wimbledon's All England Club.
To remove the build-up of rainwater when the roof is closed, a Geberit Pluvia Siphonic rainwater system has been installed inside the retractable roof.
The Pluvia system works by using gravity to produce a 'vacuum' and in effect, siphon the rainwater from the roof and into Geberit's high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.
This siphoning action also allows for pipes with a smaller diameter, thus taking up less space and giving a greater architectural flexibility, especially with the retractable roof in mind.
