Tredje Natur has installed the pilot system of its Climate Tile system in the Nørrebro area of Copenhagen
Danish company Tredje Natur (Third Nature) has recently installed the pilot system of its innovative street paving system in the Nørrebro area of Copenhagen.

Called Climate Time, Klimaflisen in Danish, the system, which is billed as a 'scalable climate adaption system', is designed to create green spaces in urban areas, as well as reduce street flooding in places that experience high levels of rainfall.

It is made up of perforated tiles that prevent flooding by collecting and redirecting water to planted areas, and was developed over a four-year period in partnership with IBF and ACO Nordic.

Flemming Rafn Thomsen, founding partner at Tredje Natur, says of the installation: "We believe our streets are the bloodstreams of society where people meet and that the sidewalk is an underappreciated part of our infrastructure that holds great potential for future communities in our ever-growing cities."

“We are happy to be able to demonstrate our scalable climate adaptation system. Beyond working one per cent of the time when we have climate accelerated rain incidents, the solution furthermore creates value for the city the remaining 99 per cent of the time."
